Hi there, I am Ava
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Springfield, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't in the plans for the long run. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Silk Meadow Grain
Most online information fell into either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site is here to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Does (And Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, feel free to get in touch.
Warm regards,
Ava
